Yet the world depends on just a few major deposits of this essential resource, found in places like Morocco, China, Russia, Saudi Arabia, and in North America, and Simplot has long been stewarding this responsibility in the Western United States.
Since 1944, the Simplot Company has proudly produced quality phosphate products, responsibly mining ore from our Smoky Canyon, ID, and Vernal, UT operations. That ore travels on an impressive journey, processed at the Don Plant in Idaho and at our Rock Springs site in Wyoming, where generations of employees have built their lives, raised families, and taken pride in the work they do every day.
One of the most recognizable features of Simplot’s phosphate products is its distinctive green color. That hue isn’t added; it’s born from the earth. It tells a story about the rich nutrient concentration of the ore, the purity of the deposit, and the care that goes into transforming it into fertilizer, industrial, and feed products. For many customers, that green has become more than a color. It represents trust, reflects consistency, and a handshake from the people behind the product.
Simplot’s phosphate production supports more than 1,100 jobs across rural Western US communities where our employees live, work, and contribute every day. Our supply chain supports local schools, small businesses, service organizations, and universities, strengthening the very places that strengthen us. Behind every ton of phosphate we produce, there are people: miners, operators, engineers, truck drivers, and countless others who care deeply about doing things the right way.
